Summer in America
Earlier this Year I spent a few Weeks in Orlando, Florida. A place that is pretty much considered the wakeboarding Capital of the world! I got to hang out and film with the best of best in the industry and basically had my mind blown every time I hit record! I spent most of the time staying at Steel Lafferty’s place and can not thank Steel enough for the amazing hospitality! Steel and I were hoping to do some YouTube collaborations but he was in the middle of filming his X-Games part so had to focus most of his time on that but it was incredible to watch his determination and commitment to making his video part!
The first guys I got to shoot with were Cory Teunissen, Gordon harrison and Cobe France, 3 of the friendliest dudes I’ve had the pleasure of filming with! Cory is an absolute machine throwing double flips and 1080’s on demand, but he can also hold of the tech riding and really throw some nice style into his riding as well!
Gordon Harrison was awesome to shoot with, his style looks amazing in both video and photo and you can clearly see that by the photos we got! G was always down for experimenting with new angles as well and we probably got some of the best 3rd person GoPro footage I’ve ever seen!
I also spent a quick afternoon snapping some shots with Shota Tezuka and Parker Siegal. I gotta say the Burst shot we got of Shota’s Japan grab Backroll to blind is probably one of my favourite action sport photo’s I’ve ever taken!
I also spent a bit of time with Shawn Watson on this trip! Watson is Legend in the wakeboarding world and one of the most stylish riders of all time! We actually made quite a few different missions together, from going to Devils Den Spring, doing some Jetski Whips on the lake and getting and epic shot of his Nautique G23 with KARMA! Hopefully get to do some more cool projects with Shawn in 2018!
And then on my last day in the US I managed to link up with Harley Clifford and Giorgia Gregorio to shoot some quick clips and test out the HERO6 protoype I had just been sent!
Wakeboarding is the action sport I spent the most time doing growing up, and getting to hang out with the best riders in the world and capture what they do best was something pretty special. But I think the coolest thing for me was seeing how amazingly close and friendly everyone is in the wakeboard community, they all hang out, ride and train together! It’s like one giant family and there’s only good vibes, even though they are competing against each other at events it has no effect on their friendships and they can all go out together on the boat and have an epic time riding together and helping to push the sport!
